Episode 6th didn’t have much to offer. Haider knew he had made a mistake by marrying Mishal and had no problems with taking her back home, until he came face to face with the media. Their questions somehow made him mad and he changed his mind. Mishal on the other hand had no issues with the entire situation, she slept like a baby in her husband’s home. When the morning came, she was also ready to say goodbye and go back to her mother’s home but once Haider told her, she was not going anywhere, again she was ok with it. These newlyweds did make a huge mistake by getting married the way they did and in the face of the opposition they are facing now, it is difficult for them to take a decision and then stand by it, particularly since they don’t even know eachother and have no idea what’s going on in the other person’s head. All this indecisiveness is justifiable.
Not a big fan of the show of masculinity by grabbing your wife by the arm, every time you want to emphasize on a point during an argument. Granted our hero is an angry young man but why can’t heroes be gentle with their wives. Every time Haider wants Mishal to take him serious, he grabs her by the arm. Their marriage was filmy and today when Mishal was on the ramp and the world was watching her, Haider grabbed her hand and forced her to leave the show. Why couldn’t he just wait backstage for Mishal and then ask her to come with him, nicely.
The senior cast is engaging in family politics and are playing their cards like experienced players. Haider’s Taya and Tayi used this opportunity as an excuse to get back at Haider and his mother for refusing Saba’s rishta. Khadija and Sara/Saira both reacted to this marriage in a more or less similar manner. While Khadija was more concerned about saving her daughter’s rishta and her family’s honor, Mishal’s mother was not at all convinced this marriage had a future due to financial reasons and the difference in the social backgrounds.
Qadeer is Haider’s cousin but the two men are poles’ apart. Haider is independent, confident, out spoken and is his own person. Qadeer on the other hand, seems more like a child in contrast. It is a good thing to be an obedient son but this guy has no say in the most important matters of his own life. Being financially independent should have given him some confidence but he can never muster up the courage to take a stand for himself or for Hamna. He needs to man up.
The contrast between Mishal and the rest of the young female characters is also interesting. In the words of Wahab Sunaira, she is a Shairni. When Khadija tried to intimidate her by using the ” kamkhab main taat ka paiwand ” mahawara, Mishi did not let it go or let her saas make her feel bad. Rather she turned the tables on her by asking who was kamkhab and who was taat :). She also did not let the onslaught of the nosy reporters scare her. She is not your typical naik-parveen who will suffer just to see others happy, she made sure Khaidja would tell Haider the truth about forcing her to leave the house and then when she met Haider, she didn’t try to either play the victim or make her mother in law look like a villain. It is this fact which makes watching Mishal and Haider so interesting, they are strong characters.
Both Mishal and Haider are professionals and their professions have an impact on their personal lives too. Right after the nikkah, Haider was called to the party’s office to explain his action and the entire showbiz world had nothing to discuss except for Mishi’s marriage and the expected end of her modeling career. It is not gonna be easy for either of them to leave their career behind and I don’t think the people from the showbiz world will leave Mishi alone any time soon. It will certainly test her decision of leaving the modeling world.
Along with Saba, Wahab Sunayara is also a welcome comic relief. ” beauty tips hi laylaytay, Tumharay leyay rung goora kernay aur mayray pimples Khatam kernay k ” :) Saba just can’t have a serious conversation, she is who she is, Just like Wahab Sunaira. This guy might not have a high IQ level or grooming but he has money and confidence and lots of it.
For now both the families are having a tough time accepting Haider and Mishal’s marriage. While these two idealists are bent upon proving everyone wrong by making their marriage work, it is certainly gonna be easier said than done. But it is gonna be very interesting to see how things turn out in the weeks to come.
