This was yet another beautifully scripted and excellently directed episode of Bari Apa. It was of course not as thrilling as the last one but the way the aftermath was portrayed was absolutely brilliant. If I compare Bari Apa with many of the dramas that I am following at the moment, I have to say that it is a class above the rest. The reasons are many but most important ones have to be the characters, the acting by the lead actors and the way we get to watch every tiny little detail on screen without getting bored for a second. I am glad that we were shown in detail Bari Apa’s reaction to the news, Farman’s confusion, Neelam’s guilt pangs, Eesa being the voice of reason to Neelam and most importantly the way Zubeida’s family was involved in the whole affair.
Zubeida took her time to come into terms with what had happened and I liked the way she did not immediately run to her family for help because that would have been totally out of character. Zubeida did not even take her own car but decided to take a cab, yet another detail which was totally in conformity with Zubeida’s character. Now the question that is weighing on my mind is that did Zubeida leave her mother’s house after listening to what Riffat had to say about her presence in the house or she just felt she needed to be with someone who she could trust with her secret…and we all know who that someone is! Too bad we got to see very little of Ghazanfar in today’s episode and in the last one too, I am having some serious withdrawal symptoms!
Nauman Ijaz had to be the star of the show today, I actually felt sorry for him. He really should have known he could not handle such stress. Calling Eesa over to make Sharmeen feel better was such a good idea. Eesa played the hero today by not only being there for Sharmeen but also by making his baji realize that she should take a stand for herself. The only thing about this latest episode that bugged me was the way talaaq was mentioned twice without there being any need for it. Shakeel threatening Riffat that he would divorce her every chance he gets and now Neelam thinking Farman will divorce her is a little unpleasant for sure. Surely, most of the normal husbands don’t go around threatening their wives like that because it is not a joke. I have seen it happening a lot in the lower class but in most of the middle class household people are a little more enlightened than that.
Although Bari Apa is a dictator to the core but even then I could not help but feel that Riffat was overreacting when she found out that Zubeida maybe staying for the night. Oh well, I guess Bari Apa did finally have my sympathies is in today’s episode. I found it funny when Farman called Ghazanfar to ask if he knew where Zubeida was and he replied “fikar na karo Farman Zubeida meri saath hai”…kiya wakihi yeh fikar kurne wali baat nahi hai? Well we will know soon enough.
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest episode, well done Samira Ji, thank you MD productions and Saife Hassan and a very special thanks to all the leading actors especially Nauman Ijaz, Savera Nadeem and Ayesha Khan for a job very well done especially in this particular episode. Madiha Rizvi is spot on as Riffat and Syed Jibran was an excellent choice for playing Shakeel.I am dying to see the rest of the family especially Ghazanfar and Firdous in the next episode.
