AunnZara: Episode 4 Review

AZ is going from strength to strength so far .I really hope it can keep up the pace . Despite both Aunn and Zara’s best efforts they are finally married . I am so glad a lot of time was not wasted on wedding sequences and dance items . If anyone was expecting there to be any realization of affection or romance they must be sorely disappointed .This had to be one of the funniest wedding night scenes I have seen: where Bride and Groom are alternately kicking and shoving each other on the bed in order to get a good night’s sleep . Of course Zara manages to nearly break Aunn’s nose making him declare “tumhey pata hai kissi kee naak par paon marna kitni Batameesi hai” this had to be my favorite line this episode . These two are so innocent , like children caught in a trap with no sense of what actual marriage is about either physically or emotionally .

This episode we saw what looks like the beginning of a new lafda , I wont say romance because that requires two willing partners , nope this was definitely what they term in Bollywood movies as a lafda. Phupo Nighat has taken to non stop flirting with Zara’s hapless father . it is just too funny and Sabreen Hasbani is just wonderful . Phupo is a strange character, constantly put down by her mother , divorced with two children yet happy as  a lark . She has yet to be sad or play the mazloom aurat card in any scene and If there is something cooking between her character and Zara’ straitlaced disciplinarian father it promises to be fun.

Mean while Aunn is learning to that there are lives outside the one he lives . For all his attempts at independence and sighing for freedom , he is not prepared for the ‘rigors” of life outside the coddling of his own family. His face while taking leave of his family to visit  Zara’s house for the traditional after wedding Maklava ( I probably spelt that wrong ), was so sad just like a bride taking leave of her family at a traditional rukhsati .Of course once they reach Zara’s home they make thei first big decision of their married life : Cricket or Tash ? …I would have gone with the Ludo but , hey I am old fashioned. It was nice to see that a young man might actually be nervous or hesitant at his in law’s house rather than the usual Drama husband we see on our screens. He is used to be being made a fuss of and when he falls off a motorbike at Zara’s house it is as if the world just stopped spinning . His grandmother and Phupo immediately arrive to check on him and refuse to leave even though they are supposed to meet at the Valeema . Out of the two Characters Zara seems to be the ever so slightly more mature. This entire episode could have come off as cheesy or unbelievable but for   Maya and Osman  playing it straight. Now that Aunn is staying at his in laws , we will see if Zara’s father can make a man out of him

Sorry this week is so succinct, I had planned to do  a double review next week and skip this week  but somehow found the energy and went ahead .
