Alvida will be reaching its turning point very soon and I am hoping against hope that it won’t be tragic but the sequence of events suggests otherwise. Thirteenth episode was again a good episode with some really heart touching scenes and emotional dialogues. Haya’s marriage is scheduled to take place within the next few days and everybody is seen happy except Haya and Haadi.
Haya is badly caught up in the past and has failed to move on. The best thing about Haya’s character is her honesty and no matter how hard she tries to hide her real feelings, her body language, her gestures, and her words convey the pain she is going through at the moment. Haadi tries his level best to stop Haya’s marriage from taking place but in vain. Haadi’s character is different from all other characters in the play. At least all other major characters know where they are headed to or what they want from life. But Haadi seems to be totally lost, trying hard to find his way out of the complex labyrinth of relationships and I dread that by the time he would know, it would be too late by then. Fareesa tries to fix her relationship with Haadi and is seen convincing him to stay in the same room as hers but fails as Haadi bluntly refuses to comply with her wishes. She then calls Saim out of desperation which is understandable because as a human being and especially as a woman, she needs her husband’s attention and love but I don’t notice any remorse or a genuine positive transformation in her character. She married for wrong reasons and that too by manipulating the whole situation to her advantage. Whatever she says or does now, it fails to evoke any kind of sympathy for her character. As for Saim, it is obvious that he is definitely up to something but what exactly I really don’t know because in this episode, his concern for Fareesa looked so genuine and sincere on many occasions that it is hard to say if he has actually come back for revenge.
Haya comes back to her taaya abu’s house on Taayee’s insistence and it was great to see some real heart-warming scenes between Haya and her Taaye. The bond between the two that was missing throughout the play was beautifully depicted in this episode. There is no doubt that Taayee is genuinely happy for Haya but she has a double reason to celebrate because deep down she thinks that Haya’s marriage with Rameez would liberate her son from this bondage and he might then invest whole heartedly in his marriage.
Rameez was sweet as well as quite funny in this episode. The way he is trying to win over Haya’s family is really commendable but nonetheless I found his interaction with Haadi quite comical especially the scenes where he treats Haadi with so much respect and seeks his advice on every little thing related to marriage.
On the whole it was an emotional episode beautifully conveying the emotions which were openly expressed and also the ones which were not articulated. All the actors were superb as usual and I forgot to mention this in my previous reviews that Shahzad Kashmiri’s direction has played an important role in lifting up the play. We will be watching the 14 episode next week, and we can still expect some unexpected twists and turns in the plot. It is hard to guess the ending even at this stage. I mean wow. Amazing story line by Samira Fazal. I absolutely love Alvida.
