Alvida is a play; I am totally addicted to these days. Amazing story, strong performances, and a fantastic direction. The 10th episode was superb beyond words.
Despite having everything, she ever dreamt of, Farisa finds her life empty and devoid of love. For the first time she is seen yearning for Haadi’s love and attention. She tries talking to Haadi about it but in vain as the latter dismisses all her pleas and arguments right away .Haadi’s continuous rejection and hatred makes her turn towards Saim once again. She gives him a missed call and then later in the episode, accidently meets him in the shopping mall. Saim is pleasantly surprised to meet her. He appears to be totally calm, in fact still romantically inclined towards her, apparently forgetting her betrayal.
On the other hand, Rameez arrives in Karachi and is seen investing all his energies in luring Haya into marrying him. Haya, is dejected not only because of Haadi’s inability to see her love for him but also for repeatedly calling it nothing but an immature infatuation. His indifference has unwittingly pushed her towards Rameez. Haadi living in his own world and as confused as before refuses to accept that there could be another man in Haya’s life. The best scene of this episode was when Farisa makes him realize how much he loves Haya which is very true as Haadi’s obsession with Haya surpasses the limits of a normal friendship and for some reason he fails to recognize it and repeatedly denies it throughout the episode. His behaviour totally contradicts his words as he is seen getting insanely jealous of Haya’s intimacy with her new friend.
The scene where Rameez takes Haya to his new apartment was the most romantic scene of this serial so far. Rameez fits into the definition of a perfect Knight in the shining armour who is capable of sweeping any woman off her feet with his chivalrous demeanour. Zahid Ahmed with his intense looks and deep voice is definitely the best choice for Rameez. Zahid ahmed has a very strong screen presence. He might appear for few minutes but leaves a long lasting impact for sure. He is an absolutely a wonderful addition to the acting fraternity of Pakistan. I simply don’t have words for Sanam Jung’s brilliant portrayal of Haya.
Sanam’s greatest strength lies in her beautiful eyes which actually communicate a lot even if she doesn’t utter a word and she has used this aptly for Haya. The hurt in Haya’s eyes and the pain in her smile lend so much strength and dignity to her character. The chemistry between Sanam and Imran Abbass is simply commendable. All the actors have performed brilliantly and have actually added a lot to their characters with their superb acting.
The beauty of this play is definitely the gradual development of its characters. Every character is undergoing the process of self-discovery throughout the play. Since the first episode, there is not a single character that has not transformed in one way or the other and this still goes on. The confusion and unpredictability among its characters has actually made this play very interesting and addictive. Sameera Fazal has always been brilliant in depicting the complexities of human psychology and I totally love her for that. The way the story is moving now, we can expect many twists and turns in the future episodes.
