We have had another bunch of guests over this weekend – and these tiny tots are driving me up the wall. I managed to watch the episode but writing a review has just proven to be a Herculean task with all the noise in the background (add to that the construction in the neighbourhood!).
Anyway, so here are my random thoughts once again!
1) Boy, am I really, really glad that Meesha did not “forgive and forget” so easily! She still has a soft corner for Mayer, that is obvious. However, she won’t rest till she has her vengeance. Great going, Meesha! She may be starry-eyed but she definitely realizes the gravity of the situation in which she is. It doesn’t help matters that Shah Baba’s charade hits her when she is so vulnerable. Brilliant twists and turns by Faiza Iftikhar.
2) Speaking of Faiza Iftikhar, the entire episode had me wondering: how does she do it? In Muhabbat Rooth Jaye Tou, she portrayed the issue of child marriage brilliantly, and even here, she has shown the courage of Saifullah who takes a bold step in rescuing Meesha from Shah Baba’s clutches. An excellent track in a drama that is a fairy tale to begin with – with no overt preaching or long-winded dialogues.
3) Loved the flashbacks. Finally, we find out who Hakeem Sikander was and how Saifullah knew him. I just wish these flashbacks had been shown without giving so much screen time to Shah Baba and his fortune-teller who seems to say the same things over and over again.
4) Finally, Rooman stands up and tells off Surraya aunty! Loved that scene too! Am I repeating myself?
5) Bano aunty, your nickname should be “chameleon” – how easily she fell for Shah Baba’s story and what a 360-degree u-turn she took on Meesha’s wedding with Mayer!
6) Poor granny!
Overall, I loved this episode. I was hooked from the start to the end. Shah Baba literally gave me goosebumps in the scene in which he came to Meher and Bano. The flashbacks were rivetting and the best part of this installment. I had an issue with the editing, though. The sequence of events towards the beginning made my gray cells spin but overall, the characterization, the twists, the turns and the progress in story all made up for it! Brilliant job by Haissam Hussain, Faiza Iftikhar and co.! Now I hope the story will go on a fast forward with Farjad’s escape, Rooman’s entry into Shahbad as the knight in shining armour and Mayer having to sweat it out thanks to Shah Baba’s evil plotting!
