Last week, I had written (in one of my comments) that Aik Nayee Cinderella leaves me in such a daze that I have to give myself a hard shake before writing a review.
This episode was no different. Combining all my favourite scenes, it took me on a rollercoaster of emotions not very different to the ones being experienced by all the characters! Whether it was Rooman and Granny having a heart to heart, or Aimee blurting out the truth in front of Mayer, it was one hooked-from-the-first-minute-to-the-very-last episode! Excellent stuff by Haissam Hussain, Faiza Iftikhar and co. once again!
Meesha might have begun to realize her feelings for Rooman in the previous episode. But alas! Her fancy, fairytale dreams have such a strong foundation that it has not been easy for reality to seep in. True, she was not too bothered by Zainee and Mayer’s upcoming engagement but she still rushed to Rooman to break the good news of Mayer’s proposal and her own unofficial engagement. For most part of the episode, Meesha was questioning herself and her emotions, with Granny and Rooman in the background, the former voicing her granddaughter’s feelings and the latter clarifying his own. The way Meesha’s inner turmoil was juxtaposed with Granny and Rooman’s coversations was lovely to watch!
On the other hand, Meher’s optimist, selfish attitude was all too apparent in her daughters. Zainee and Aimee indulged in a hilarious cat fight which was too comical for words. Esheeta and Warda Butt were superb today. The only thing that distracted me from their performance was their overly done makeup (once again!). But apart from that, it was a treat to see Mayer finally discovering the truth, thanks to Aimee! RE Aimee and Farjad, the only phrase that was coming to mind was from Pride and Prejudice: “Foolish, foolish Lydia!” (Or something to that effect anyway!). It is interesting how Zainee and Aimee are totally obsessed with getting married – it is almost as if marriage is the be all and end all of their lives. Zainee actually did make sense when she asked if Aimee will end up falling in love with every wayfarer.
The episode might have given too much screen time to Zainee and Aimee, but the Rooman-Meesha scene towards the end made up for it in every way. If I had been disappointed by their scene by the river in the previous episode, I was totally rivetted by this one. Their conversation, their expressions, and the way the realization dawns on both Meesha and Rooman was endearing at best. Faizan Khawaja and Maya Ali => This has to be one of your best scenes! The only irritating part was the way it was interuppted with a Farjad-Aimee scene. Honestly!
Overall, this was a lovely episode with a blend of emotions, reflections and of course, a subtle message for the audience to understand the difference between fantasy lands and reality. The chemistry between all the characters has been excellent throughout but in this particular episode, with one overt and one covert confession of love, it was at its best between both the couples. Once again, kudos to the entire team of ANC: Haissam Hussain, Faiza Iftikhar, A&B Productions, Erum Binte Shahid, the cast, the technical team, everyone! ANC is a complete package of entertainment, and I cannot wait for next week.
